2 powerful quotes on effective communication πŸ™Š

Hey Reader!

Communication is at the core of every dysfunction in relationships and business.

When people lack alignment, there is conflict.

Communication is the primary tool to create shared expectations and common perspective.

In many conflicts, people feel like they have communicated. I shared a quote on a recent LinkedIn video this week. (If we're not connected on LinkedIn, let's fix that. I share short, punchy videos a few times a week there.)

β€œThe greatest failure of communication is the illusion that it’s taking place”
- William H. Whyte

Just because you've stated your position or sent someone an email does not mean there is clarity. Communication is deceivingly complex.

Have you come to some agreement with someone? Have you considered their perspective? Have you considered why they disagree... Did you ask them?!

Communication is what the listener does
- Mark Horstman

Don't be the boss that says, "I sent them an email, why are they not following my direction?"

Failures of communication will devolve into a toxic culture of misalignment. Think more deeply about how you communicate and be thoughtful about how you can increase the clarity and cadence of your communication with everyone you interact with.

Hey Reader! I hear it all the time from MSP owners, "My team just doesn't have critical thinking skills." But here's what's actually happening. You've spent 15 or 20 years building expertise that now feels like second nature. You see patterns instantly. You know which shortcuts work and which ones will bite you later.
